We love the outdoors, so it felt natural to have our wedding theme centred around it.

Why did we choose earth tones?

The beginning of our forever

Our story began on Twitter—yes, you read that correctly. Panji accidentally followed the wrong George (who turned out to be Mr Right) while looking for an old friend. George disputes this version of events for absolutely no reason at all. In the end, Panji decided this George was funny and they became friends. Months down the road, George (living in the Isle of Man at the time) travelled to Leeds to meet Panji on the 27/12/2019 and the rest is history. It's been quite the adventure so far, with many twists and turns. It certainly has not been boring. They found a shared love for adventure, food, travelling, sitting on the sofa for hours on end and enjoying the bevvies. The one thing they cannot agree on is film and TV series genres. George enjoys a bit of everything- action, drama, adventure, comedy etc. Panji will only watch crime dramas and anything with a serious tone. It's okay though, George sleeps through Panji's viewing, so everyone wins.

Our story so far

Nthungululu azimayi! 

Unbothered by everything wedding-related—except the budget. Very laid-back and prefers things in small doses. He gets grumpy when hungry. He’s adamant that he’s a great dancer, so everyone: please keep an eye out for his moves on the big day.

George Phambala

Particular about everything (except the budget). Grumpy when tired, except when on holiday. She loves nsima and tea. She also loves to chat and is well known for her hours long phone calls. 

Panji Mulipa

George and Victor have been friends since childhood, by default, due to their parents being friends. You will not miss his presence (in a good way). Reliable and thorough. He does not like to wait (verify this at your own risk). 

Victor Kamwendo

The brides partner in crime for 25 years.  She is the softest at heart and also laughs at everything. She loves food (if you need to bribe her). 
Caution: She is incredibly protective of the bride.

Mimi Maganga

Kia needs no introduction!  Life of the party, and flexible. After all, he's had to change his beard for this occasion. What more a show of love than to change your appearance for someone's special day.

Kia Banda

She's famous (in our circles) for her funny one liners. Methodical and sensible and  a heap of fun.
She stands by her initial  judgment of Panji.. " she's weird but she seems nice". This is your opportunity to ask her why. 

Sabrina Jantuah

Mr enjoyment; make a plan and he will be there. A treasure trove of stories and endless entertainment (and chaos). He will know where the drinks are. 

Hope Chirengwa

She is the brides middle sister. Quiet and reserved until you get to know her. Patient and caring. She is going nowhere fast but she will be there. 

Esther Mulipa

The grooms nephew (and the grooms achilles heel). Lively and adorable, although now he is a lanky teenager, the groom is not "cool" enough for him. 

Wathu Phambala

She is the brides youngest sister. Bubbly and always  giggling. When asked to be a bridesmaid, her response was " as long as you don't make me do crazy dance choreography". You've been warned. 

Anita Mulipa

Full of personality and very friendly. She'll welcome you with open arms. 

Chisomo Kumwenda

Quiet and a little shy but otherwise an absolute sweetheart. Include her in everything to get the best out of her. 

Ciara Nhlema

Not at all shy and you will hear him from the next room. Gogo is his favourite person after mum and dad got demoted. He's a cheeky little person with a big heart.

David Mulipa Jnr

Very friendly and active but also loves a nap. She spends her time jumping in puddles and loves to dance. Offer her bread to truly win her over. 

Nayah Kagodora

A shy little girl who is caring and loves to sing. Her dad says she loves cake but you might want to verify with her mum before you offer her some. 

Mayamiko Uka

The brides brother. A busy body. Aside from walking the bride down the aisle, you probably won't see him in one place again for the rest of the day. He will have all the information. 

David Mulipa

The fun aunt! She will instil order and then let her hair down like a totally different person. Likely to be found in the cutest outfit.

Nancy and the bride have know each other since high school and were roommates for a time. Coincidentally, both Joe and Nancy were in the same year with the groom at university. Nancy is full of energy and is always searching for a good time.
Joe is a music and photography enthusiast, so don't be alarmed if he helps out by taking photos of the fun.

She loves an event and is currently training her legs for a full night of dancing. She likes things in order- in fact this website was her idea! She's full of ideas but will forget that she already pitched them.

Mrs Julie Mulipa- Mother of the Bride. 

She's always at ease and carries a quiet confidence. If you need a calming spirit amidst the chaos, she's where you'll find it. Likely to be one of the first people on the dance floor.

Mrs Nancy Penistone- Mother of the Groom. 

Celebrating with us from heaven. He was a gentle soul and our number one cheerleader. oh and hilarious. He hated phone calls but would send three part emails. Curious and adventurous. The bride will carry his rosary in her bouquet as a way of having a piece of him with her on the wedding day.

Cheering us on from heaven. A true man of the people; He had a gift for connection. A kind person who brought warmth, humour, and sincerity to every interaction.He was also a fountain of knowledge and history, with an endless supply of fun facts on road trips. His curiosity made an adventure out of the most mundane things.

Welcome to the warm heart of Africa.

If you are flying into the country, there is an international airport in Blantyre (Chileka airport, now apparently known as Bakili Muluzi airport). Unfortunately, if you are travelling from outside Africa, there are no direct flights into the country. When flying into Blantyre, common routes are either via Johannesburg, South Africa, or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. If you choose to fly into the international airport in Lilongwe, you also have the option of flying through Nairobi, Kenya. You can then get a connecting flight to Blantyre (less than an hour) or travel by road which takes roughly 4.5 hours. If you are travelling from afar, we suggest that you arrive a few days before the wedding day (minimum 2 days), to allow you to rest and recover from your journey. It will also give you the chance to settle in so you can enjoy the day. If possible, will everyone in the wedding party please arrive in Blantyre by midday, Thursday July 23rd as we have officiation rehearsals that afternoon.

Travelling to Blantyre- Malawi

Visas

If you are travelling to Malawi on a foreign passport, please check the visa requirements beforehand. Please also check what your airline needs to allow you to board your flight as some airlines require a visa before you fly. As of January 2026, most western passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival at the cost of $50 per applicant. If you are planning to obtain a visa on arrival, please ensure that you have the required amount in cash (USD only) as they do not accept card or cheque payments. We plan to hire a bus to transport our guests around the time of the wedding. The bus is a complementary addition for our guests, so you need not worry about the logistics. If you need picking up from the airport, please let us know so we can have this arranged. This bus will also be used to do the post wedding tour of the south, for those who are interested in joining us.

Malawi is still a cash heavy society so please take this into account when travelling. Some establishments will offer card payments (Visa and Mastercard) but you should always take into account that the card facilities may not be working, so always carry some cash with you.If you would like to bring cash into the country, the USD and GBP are widely accepted. Please feel free to ask the contacts best way to change your foreign currency.If you would like to withdraw money from an ATM using a foreign bank card, the best ones to use are Standard Bank ATMs. Some of the others don't always work with foreign cards so it's better to be safe.

Currency 

If you would like to buy some souvenirs, the best place to do this in Blantyre is a crafts market in the heart of Blantyre. The market is located on Chilembwe road, between two intersecting roads (Victoria avenue and Livingstone avenue). There are other markets dotted around if you choose to travel outside Blantyre, particularly towards the lake shore. HAGGLE! HAGGLE! HAGGLE! We cannot stress this enough. if you can, take someone who can speak Chichewa with you to get the best bargains.

The fun continues... 

We thought to make your trip to Malawi worth the while by showing you a few highlights of the south of the country. We hope you can make it but understand if you can't. We will embark on our adventures, starting on the Monday (27/07/26) after the wedding. We have the transport covered, but you will have to save some pennies for accommodation, food and anything else you might want to partake in to enhance your tour. The trips to Majete wildlife reserve and Mulanje are day trips. We will start off in the morning and return at the end of the day. When we travel to Mangochi, you will have to consider the cost of a two night stay. The post wedding activities are suitable for all ages, so please bring everyone along.
